Burnham Plan of Chicago

Daniel Burnham's 1909 Plan of Chicago offered a clear and comprehensive vision of a modern urban city. The plan was sponsored by the Merchant's Club of Chicago in the aftermath of the Great Chicago Fire. While the plans were never built, the reclamation of the lakeshore as public property became Burnham's legacy on the city of Chicago.
